Fine, Silver Tefillin Boxes. London, Early 20th Century
Silver boxes with a touching Hebrew dedication for a Bar Mitzvah.
The Batei Tefillin were made in London, England, by the silversmith Morris Salkind, in the early 20th century. On the upper part of each box, a fine hand-engraved border with the Hebrew letters ש"ר and ש"י [Shel Rosh and Shel Yad] in the center. Several English hallmarks on the bottom of the boxes.
Engraved on the lower part of the silver boxes is a touching Hebrew dedication reading: Gift by Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Greenberg to the Bar Mitzvah G. Rosenfeld on Shabbat Parashat Terumah, the third of Adad A 1927.
