בספרון נדיר זה, מגולל מנחם קליונר, שהיה יחד עם מאיר דיניגוף בראשותו של ועד ההגירה של הגירוש, את האירוע ההיסטורי של גירוש יהודי תל אביב על ידי השלטון האות'מואני בימי מלחמת העולם הראשונה.
באביב 1917 גורשו כ 10,000 יהודים מתל אביב.
מנחם יצחק קליונר (תרמ"ה-תרכ"ה 1885-1965) בפרשית גירוש יהודי תל אביב מונה כאחראי יחד עם מאיר דיזינגוף לדאוג למחסורם של המגורשים. כאשר חזרו הגולים מכפר סבא לבתיהם בתל אביב, עיצב קליונר עבורם דגל כחול לבן לתלות בבתיהם, ועיצוב דגל זה הוא שנבחר, כעבור שלושים שנה, לשמש כדגל מדינת ישראל.
