The book contains notes from participants of the legendary expedition of the icebreaker "Malygin", which in 1928 participated in the search for the expedition of Umberto Nobile on the airship"Italy". The icebreaker was trapped by ice in the area of Hope island. The plane, piloted by polar pilot M. S. Babushkin, took off to search, landed twice on the ice, but returned to the ship due to a storm. After emerging from the ice, Malygin continued to survey the Barents sea areas East of Svalbard.
