This fine map engraving is from Rigobert Bonne and Nicolas Desmarest's Atlas encyclopédique, contenant la géographie ancienne, et quelques cartes sur la géographie du moyen age, la géographie moderne et les cartes relatives à la géographie physique. The work was published by Hotel de Thou in Paris between 1787 and 1788.
Rigobert Bonne (1727-1794) was a French cartographer. He was one of the most important and influential map makers of the late 18th century. He also served as the Royal Cartographer to France.
