This is Van Buren's Message and Documents Relating to the Delay of the Sailing of the U.S. Exploring Expedition; Document Number 147. The papers were published in 1838 and detail the postponement of Captain Charles Wilkes's voyage in 1838. The papers are string bound in housed in green cloth box with leather title to spine in gold gilt lettering. There are 630 pages of text in total.
