This exploration volume is John S. Jenkin's Voyage of the U.S. Exploring Squadron, Commanded by Captain Charles Wilkes...and an Account of the Expedition to the Dead Sea, under Lieutenant Lynch. The work was published in 1850 by James M. Alden in Auburn, New York.
The volume is bound in 1/2 calf with marbled board, gold gilt and green leather details to spine, five raised bounds modernly rebound. There are 3 engravings present with 517 pages of text + contents pages and additional pages bound to the end. It details the portion of the expedition to the Dead Sea.
