Bartlett & Willis's American Scenery - Two Volumes with 120 Scenic Engravings including Map of Northeast America
This two volume work with 120 steel engravings is Nathaniel Willis and W. H. Bartlett's American Scenery; or, Land, Lake, and River Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature. From Drawings by W. H. Bartlett. The work was published by George Virtue in London in 1840.

The volumes are bound in publisher's gilt-stamped green cloth. The work features two decorative frontispieces, 120 scenic engravings including a map of north eastern United States, portrait, and tissue guards. The text was completed by Nathaniel Willis. The scenic views by Bartlett include Niagara Falls, the Hudson River Valley, West Point, Crow's Nest from Bull Hill, View From Ruggle's House, Newburgh, Peekskill Landing, and Indian Falls. There are also views of Boston, New York, Washington DC, and the Catskill Mountains.

Paper Size: ~ 8 1/2" by 11"

Paper Type or Special Features: Two Volumes with 120 Scenic Engravings including Map of Northeast America

The work is in good to very good condition overall. There is some intermittent spotting or soiling throughout but generally clean and better than we usually see as it's a work prone to foxing. Volume one is splitting at the head of the spine. There is some scuffing to bindings and a bumped corner. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
