Shu"t Shemen Rokeach, responsa on the four sections of the Shulchan Aruch by Rabbi Elazar Lowe, av"d Santov and other cities.
Rabbi Elazar Lowe (1758-1837) was the son of the Ateres Paz and father of the Shaarei Torah. He was the son-in-law of the Keter Kehunah. He held prominent rabbinical positions in Poland, Bohemia and Hungary. The Chasam Sofer eulogized him. He was a prominent mechaber of his time and printed this work when he was rav in Piltz, where he served in his first rabbinical position at the age of 20.
The leaf before the title page bears the signature of Rabbi Chaim of Leslau, av"d מעזיחאד and שווערין. He was a talmid of Rabbi Akiva Eiger and corresponded with him in halachah. He was a rav in עקצין and in his birthplace, Leslau.
At the end of the sefer, he listed the birthdates of his children, with his signatures, from 1816 through 1837.He received this sefer as a gift from Gershon Zvi b"r Tuvia, av"d צמפלבורג, author of Haghaot Nikrat HaTzur on his father's Et Barzel.
