We are grateful to the estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen, for their kind support. The work is registered there in the work archive.
The watercolour shows Otto Mueller, who was visiting Osterholz in the summer of 1921 (cf. Erich Heckel "Am Strande" (Hüneke 21/8)).
