Two antique copies afterJean-Antoine Watteau, 19th century.Oil on canvas in sumptuously stuccoed wooden frames painted in gold. One depicts a theatrical performance of a pastoral play with a lady dressed as a shepherdess in the center. The other shows a festive scene with a minstrel. Dimensions with frame approx. 28 x 35 cm. In good condition with traces of age, craquelure, frame slightly bumped, with minor losses of color. Jean-Antoine Watteau (* October 10, 1684 in Valenciennes; † July 18, 1721 in Nogent-sur-Marne) was a French Rococo painter. With his fêtes galantes, he created a new genre of painting at the beginning of the 18th century.Zwei antike Kopien nach Jean-Antoine Watteau, 19. Einmal Darstellung einer Theateraufführung eines Schäferstückes mit einer als Schäferin gekleideten Dame im Mittelpunkt. Das andere zeigt eine festliche Szene mit einem Spielmann. Maße mit Rahmen ca. 28 x 35 cm. Guter Erhaltungszustand mit Altersspuren, Krakeleebildung, Rahmen leicht bestoßen, mit kleineren Farbabplatzern. Jean-Antoine Watteau (* 10. Oktober 1684 in Valenciennes; † 18. Juli 1721 in Nogent-sur-Marne) war Maler des französischen Rokoko. Mit seinen fêtes galantes schuf er zu Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts eine neue Bildgattung.
