Maginei Eretz. Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim, Turei Zahav and Magen Avraham, with the Ateret Zikeinim commentary. Dyhernfurth, [1702]. Second edition of the Magen Avraham with many tens of annotations and a number of halachic glosses in the hand of an outstanding Torah scholar.
[4], 147, 150-213, 212-440 leaves. Mispaginated. 31.5 cm.
Second edition of the famed Magen Avraham commentary on the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim and the first edition of the Ateret Zikeinim. The Magen Avraham was first printed after the author's death in 1692 in Dyhernfurth by Rabbi Shabtai Meshorer Bass, author of the Siftei Chachamim supercommentary on Rashi and Siftei Yisheinim. Within ten years, the edition was already out-of-print, so he reprinted it in 1702. This copy is from that second edition. It includes the original preface and another one for this edition. The prestigious approbations to this edition include ones from: Rabbi Avraham Broyde, Rabbi Dovid Oppenheim, Rabbi Naftali HaKohen Katz and others. Fundamental halachic works were generally well-used by Torah Scholars and most disintegrated over time. Especially rare book. Modern, half-leather binding. Worming holes. Aging stains. Moderate condition.
