Letter from the Admor Rabbi Chane Halberstam of Kołaczyce
A letter from the Admor Rabbi Chena Halberstam of Kołaczyce to a wealthy gentleman who aided a pauper in need and is again requesting aid. In his handwriting, with two signatures.
[1] letterhead paper. 14 x 22 cm.
Written during the time he was in Rzeszów, no date (1923 onwards). Fold marks. Very fine condition. The Admor Rabbi Elchanan (Chane) Halberstam of Kołaczyce –author of “Divrei Chane” and more, was born in 1884. His father was Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pristik, the grandson of Hayim of Tzanz and the son-in-law of the Admor of Szeniawa. From a young age he served as a rabbi and leader of the community and was an important Admor of his generation. He died in the Holocaust.
One of his outstanding features was his special love of the Jewish people, which was expressed in a part by his many acts of charity. He was extremely kind, and this letter is replete with his love for his people and his concerns for this Jew in his time of need.
