Letter from Rabbi Hayim Itzchak Isaac Halberstam of Slutfena
A letter from Rabbi Hayim Itzchak Isaac Halberstam of Slutfena to Rabbi Yosef Zvi Dushinski. 1934.
[2] pages. 14 x 22 cm. The letter, on his stationary in his handwriting with his signature, requests help for someone who wants to immigrate to Israel.
Rabbi Hayim Itzchak Isaac Halberstam of Slutfena was born in 1899, son of Rabbi Yehoshua, Head of the Beit Din of Vilna (son of Moshe of Berdiov, son of Baruch of Gorlitz, son of Rabbi Hayim of Tzanz), and the son-in-law of the author of “Atzei Hayim” of Siget. From 1925 he served as rabbi of Slutfena (which was near Siget), where he established a large yeshiva and was very admired by the community. He died in the Holocaust in 1943.
The letter was artistically restored. There is damage to a few words. Water stains have blurred some of the writing, the signature is pale and is partly damaged on the back of the page. Medium-fine condition.
