Rabbi Akiva Sofer took the place of his forefathers of the Sofer dynasty - the Ktav Sofer and the Chatam Sofer - as the rabbi of Pressburg and the Rosh Yeshiva. He immigrated to Israel and established great Torah institutions and was a leader among the ultra-orthodox community. He died in 1960.
