Halachic Rulings from Prominent Poskim to the Mantua Community. 18th Century
Halachic rulings sent to the rabbis of Mantua regarding a controversy that beset their community in [1733]. [3] pages, 21x31 cm.
* Verdict sent to Mantua Rabbis Rabbi Dovid Finzi (son-in-law of the Ramchal) and Rabbi Aviad Sar Shalom from Rabbi Chaim Elfandri of Tiberias.
* Letters to the "parnassim" of the Mantua community from Rabbi Yechezkel Katzenelbogen, Rabbi of Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck, author of "Knesset Yechezkel". Very strong letter.
The letters were originally written in [1733]. This is a copy made by the scribe of the Mantua community in an especially nice hand on quality paper.
The two letters from prominent leaders of the generation relate to a disagreement within the Mantua community regarding the status of the "parnassim". The letters include important, interesting information regarding Italian Jewry. To the best of our knowledge, these verdicts were never published.
Very fine condition.
