Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) was the 33rd president of the United States (1945-1953). As president, he authorized the use of atomic bombs to attack Japan, which led to the end of the Second World War. He helped rebuild Europe after the Second World War, collaborating with the allies of the United States. He was the first leader to recognize the establishment of the State of Israel.
