Tanach. Mikraot Gedolot. Venice, Di Gara Press. [1568]. Four Volumes. Impressive copy
Tanach Mikraot Gedolot with Rashi’s commentary, Ibn Ezra, Ralbag, Rabbeinu Saadya Gaon, Radak and Mesorah. Venice, Di Gara press. [1568]. Four volumes. Torah and five megillot: [6] 228, 819-861. Early Prophets: [1] 234-441. Later Prophets: [1] 442-685. Writings: [1], 688 – 817 [five megillot bound at the end of the Torah] 863-926, 7 [1]; 66 leaves, 38 cm. Early, prominent edition of the Mikraot Gedolot. The printers wrote that they were careful not to make the same mistakes as in previous editions. Each volume has a separate title page within an architectural border – a copperplate engraving. Half title page for the five megillot in which the printers write that they printed the megillot separately so that each person could bind them with the section that they preferred. Complete copy, including all the introductions, Mesorah Gedola and Targum Yerushalmi on the Torah. Four, magnificent leather bindings. Overall very fine condition. Blemishes to solitary letters in the chumash, very few worming holes. A few leaves were taken from a different copy. Haberman-Yudlov, Hamadpis Juan Di Gara V’Reshimat Sifrei Beit Defuso, 10. Vinograd, Venice 559.
