Etzei Chaim on the Festivals, by the Admor Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum, Av Beit Din of Sighet. Sighet, 1934. First Edition.

At the beginning of the book is a foreword by the author's son, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum, Av Beit Din of Sighet, in which he writes: "I beseech our esteemed friends to bring blessing into their homes and purchase this sacred book in full, so that they may receive a doubled blessing from heaven..."

The author, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum of Sighet, known as the Ba'al Etzei Chaim (1880–1926), was among the great tzaddikim of his generation. Born in 5640 (1880) – the numerical value of "Yifrach Tzaddik" ("the righteous shall flourish", Psalms 92:13), he was the son of Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum, the "Kedushat Yom Tov", and grandson of Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Teitelbaum, the "Yitav Lev" – belonging to one of the most prominent Hasidic dynasties in Hungary.

Upon reaching marriageable age, he married the daughter of Rabbi Shalom Eliezer Halberstam of Ratzfert, son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. He was a devoted disciple of the great tzaddikim of his time, including his holy father, Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinova, Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz, and Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz. His extraordinary sanctity and greatness in Torah and Avodah (divine service) were widely recognized, and tens of thousands benefited from his guidance and prayers.

He was an outstanding Torah scholar, of whom it was said that he never forgot anything he had studied. He was one of the leading Rebbes of his generation and a central figure in Hungarian Jewry. He established many disciples, and multitudes flocked to his court. The book’s title page describes him as: "The great man among giants, the glorious pride of Israel, the holy and renowned Admor, the eminent scholar and sage known across the world, our master, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum, Av Beit Din of Sighet and the surrounding region."

His younger brother was Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar.
