Rabbi David Ben Shimon (d. 5640 [1880]) was a distinguished rabbi in Rabat, Morocco, where he taught many disciples. In 5614 [1854], he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, where he founded the Va'ad HaEidah HaMaaravit and the Machaneh Yisrael neighborhood. He was known for his numerous writings, including:

Sha'arei Tzedek
Sha'ar HaMatarah
Sha'ar HaMifkad
His descendants are the prominent Ben Shimon family lineage.

Unique Features of This Copy:
On the title page, there is a printed dedication label, filled in by hand, addressed to Rabbi Yitzchak Larido.
