Psalterium Prophetae Dauidis by Petrus Artopoeus – Rare Book of Psalms in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, Basil, Switzerland, 1548. First edition. 653 pages. 16 cm. The book includes an introduction and index. Petrus Artopoeus is the fabricated name of Peter Becker (1491-1563) a German theologist, disciple of Martin Luther, who was affiliated with the Christian Reform Movement. Because of his philosophies he was expelled from the Priesthood, declared a hereticand his works were burned. Old fancy leather binding with the title of the book in gold letters. Binding damaged in corners. Tears on the first two pages without loss to the text. Remaining pages in very fine condition.
