A letter in the handwriting of Rabbi Shlomo Aharon Wertheimer, in which he shares with the recipient his work process on finding and researching the writings from the Cairo Geniza. four pages.

The name of the recipient is not mentioned at the beginning of the letter (probably it was mentioned on the envelope), and this is how Rabbi Wertheimer begins:

"From Jerusalem I announce to you that the Lord has brought before me from the Genizat of the New Egypt, a booklet of 8 pages ... and in my opinion it is a commentary of an ancient grammarian which, according to my hypothesis, is Rabbi Se'adia Gaon. with great effort I was able to copy in completeness one of the two chapters of the booklet".

Later, he provides evidence that the body of the book, on which the commentary revolves, is by Rasa"g

In three pages Rabbi Wertheimer describes and cites the manuscript he found, and makes his comments.

The date of the letter: from the fact that Rabbi Wertheimer mentions that he intends to soon publish the second volume of 'Zikaron LaRishonim Vele'Achronim', after the first volume (and in fact the only one printed) was published in Jerusalem in 1909, it turns out that the letter in front of us was written around 1910 or a little later.

מכתב בכתב ידו של רבי שלמה אהרן ורטהיימר, חושף גנזי הקדמונים, בו הוא משתף את הנמען מתהליך עבודתו על מציאת וחקר הכתבים מהגניזה הקהירית. ארבעה עמודים.

בראש המכתב לא נזכר שם הנמען (כנראה הוזכר על המעטפה), וכך פותח הרב ורטהיימר:

"מירושלים מבשר אתן כי הקרה ה' לפניי מגניזת מצרים החדשה, קונטרס בן ח' דפים... והוא ביאור על דברי מדקדק קדמון אשר לפי השערתי הוא רבנו סעדיה גאון ז"ל: בעמל רב עלה בידי לע"ע להעתיק בשלמות" את אחד משני הפרקים שבקונטרס.

בהמשך דבריו מביא ראיות לכך שגוף הספר, שעליו נסוב הפירוש, הוא לרס"ג.

בשלושה עמודים מתאר ומצטט הרב ורטהיימר את כתב היד שמצא, ומעיר את הערותיו.

תאריך המכתב: מכך שהרב ורטהיימר מזכיר שבדעתו להוציא בקרוב את הכרך השני של 'זכרון לראשונים ולאחרונים', אחרי שהכרך הראשון (ולמעשה היחיד שנדפס) ראה אור בירושלים בשנת תרס"ט (1909), מסתבר שהמכתב שלפנינו נכתב בערך בשנת תר"ע (1910) או מעט אחר כך.
