About the Author:
The renowned Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Michel Halevi Epstein, author of Aruch HaShulchan (1829–1908), Av Beit Din of Novardok, was one of the foremost halachic authorities of his generation. In his youth, he studied at the Volozhin Yeshiva. From the mid-1860s, he served as rabbi in Novozybkov, and from 1874, he was the Rabbi of Novardok. He became famous for his monumental work, Aruch HaShulchan, covering all four sections of the Shulchan Aruch, in which he clarified, analyzed, and summarized the positions of both early and later halachic authorities in a clear and structured manner. His son, Rabbi Baruch Halevi Epstein, authored the famous commentary Torah Temimah on the Torah.
